In Lima

Were in Lima. We arrived yesterday afternoon without incident. Of course, it's overcast but not too cold.

Fortunately, it turned out that today was a holiday - the feast day of St. Peter and St. Paul- so the cousins were all off work.  We could tell  it was a holiday because it was so quiet in San Felipe.  There was none of the usual morning noises -gardners at work, traffic and construction on nearby streets, etc. It was even quieter quieter than on weekends!

We got together at Juancho's (my cousin, not me) apartment and jointly fixed lunch. Diego contributed a pumpkin soup and rice, Liz a cooked vegetable salad, I lentils with pork and bacon, and Jose and Carla a tres leches cake. 

By the time we got finished and sat down to eat, it was three o'clock, and after that hearty lunch, folks took advantage of the holiday by watching TV and taking naps.

Good times so far!

Countdown..

Less than 24 hrs before we leave for the airport ... and so much to get done between now and then!

Tickets to Arequipa purchased!

Hey! Looks like, in addition to Cusco, plans are in the works for a group journey to Arequipa!

"Perú visits Peru"

At the end of March, Perú launched a new "country brand" with a logo for Peruvian products.  Incorporating a spiral into the P the logo gives a nod to Perú's ancient past, and cultures such as Nasca and Caral.   Modern inhabitants may be reminded of the final part of the old AeroPerú logograph.

As part of the campaign to get Peruvians to adopt and use the logo, the company hired to produce and promote the brand sent a delegation of Peruvian "ambassadors" headed by chef Gastón Acurio to share Peruvian culture with the 569 inhabitants of Peru.

Liz and I have got our tickets to Lima.   We've got our tickets to Cusco.   And, we've got a hotel reservation for 3 nights in the Imperial City!

Now, we just have to be patient for a while longer until it's time to go.
